Faith Leaders letter to Prime Minister Carney

October 27, 2026

Faith leaders from churches, religious congregations and faith-based organizations from across Canada have sent a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney expressing concern that Canada continues to expand fossil fuel production and export capacity despite the climate emergency and international commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They call for transparent and democratic decision-making, meaningful public participation and respect for Indigenous Peoples’ right to free, prior and informed consent.
